Arriving on foot:
Stow of Wedale has a variety of walks to enjoy – once you are in Stow you will find The Wedale Bookshop at the heart of the village at 231 Galashiels Road. Find us at the crossroads of Galashiels Road (the A7 through Stow) and Townfoot/Station Road.
Arriving by bike:
Stow of Wedale is well known in the cycling community not just for our bike-friendly facilities, but for being at the crossroads of many routes across the borders. Quiet backroads link Stow to the National Cycle Network, Route 1 (NCN1). You can secure your bike to the railings outside the shop, or at the bike parking opposite the Cloudhouse Cafe on Townfoot (where there is also a bike repair stand). Don’t forget there is also the Stow Cycle Hub at the Station House, where you can get bike repairs or hire e-bikes.
Arriving by train:
Stow Railway Station is only five minutes away from us – just follow the signs into the village along Station Road. The railway station is well-served with trains every 30mins during the day – linking Stow of Wedale to Edinburgh and Midlothian, Galashiels and Tweedbank.
Arriving by bus:
Borders Buses service X95 runs on the A7 through Stow of Wedale, with a bus every hour in each direction between Edinburgh and Galashiels. The bus stops in both directions serving the centre of the village, “Stow, Memorial” are either directly across the road (northbound) or just short of the crossroads (southbound).
Arriving by car:
Stow of Wedale is on the A7 between Edinburgh and Galashiels. We are about 12 minutes from Galashiels or about 50 minutes from Edinburgh. We are only about 10 minutes away from Lauder via the B6362. Free on-street parking is available on Townfoot, or Station Road. There is also additional village parking over the railway bridge, opposite Wedale View. Please remember all of the village has a 20mph speed limit!
